hang and hook ...

Hello all,

So today I have been trying to organise an up and coming photo shoot which means trying to source some lovely props to sit alongside my main products. Basically, it has given me a fantastic excuse to trawl through countless online boutiques, catalogues and design blogs in search of  lovely, decorative pieces.
And wouldn't you know it, I become distracted, off I went on a tangent, I can only blame this on the beautiful images I came across whilst doing my "research". I seem to have once again fallen in love with anything you can hang on your wall, though this time I'm not just talking fancy frames and pretty pictures.

It's refreshing to see how people are using their walls to showcase a plethora of objects, all perfectly hung in a cluster of style and personality. It's like having your own home gallery, exhibiting whatever you like alongside the trusty old photo frame. It seems the more eclectic the better. I love the variation in size and shape in many of the images I've found,  an ordinary large, square frame hung next to a long, metal arrow. The more obscure, the better the wall, and although it may seem a little hard to believe it does somehow visually work. Here are some of my favourite examples, going from the classic cluster of frames to the more playful placements of letters and objects.

Is it about time we all got creative and made our walls a bit more playful?

heavenly hallways ...

Hello all,
What a rainy Monday it's been. Not the best way to start the week, but hey, it's one day closer to the weekend.  So, when noting down some ideas for my post today I realised that without even noticing, over the past two weeks or so I have been making my way around the home with my post topics. I've covered office space, bathrooms, corner spaces, slowly making my way around the house. So I thought, if I've started I may as well finish! So with that I've decided to go back to the beginning, where I would have orginally started if I had known I was going to be posting an "around the house" theme.

So the first place to start when being introduced to style and decoration in the home is of course the hallway. Whether this is a long stretch of hallway complete with a seating area and table or a mere modest table and hat stand, it's the first glimpse people get of your style, what colour, objects and pattern make your house a home. I have pulled some of my favourite hallway images below, all very different, in size and style.  I really love the soft colours on the walls in these images, as I am always harping on about, I really don't think you can beat a soft grey wall, it makes everything look so clean, crisp and stylish. Farrow and Ball Grey Pavilion No.242 being my stand alone favourite... just so you know.

Take a look at these beauties... what are your favourites?

My idea of perfection. THE favourite.... Adore it.

Love love love the patterned runner.

So simple, but definitely up there as one of my favourites.

ever eclectic ...

Hello all.
I've been flipping through some old interior magazines tonight, looking over old interior styling images that I've ripped out and collected over the years always inspires me to compare them with what is out there today. A trend that I believe will never go out of fashion in interior decoration and styling is the "eclectic" theme. To me this is a theme that is all about personal touches and quirkiness, dependent solely on the individual. Yes it's able to be created by mixing and matching clashing prints, colours and textures but I find the most interesting and authentic interior spaces to be the ones which have personal touches, objects which have been collected through a persons life, passed down by family or friends or hand made.

Colour plays a big part in this theme, something which has inspired my post tonight. I've pulled out some of my favourite eclectic and colourful spaces, all brilliantly individual and endearing in their own way. Take a look

a little shuffle ...

Hello all,

Hope everyone has had yet another lovely bank holiday weekend. Like many people up and down the country a bank holiday Monday can often mean dabbling in a bit d.i.y or a little spring clean. I myself wouldn't go as far as saying I did a spring clean, however I did do a little reorganising of my desk. I tend to change/move things around constantly, whether it's just to freshen things up or if I need a little inspiration or motivation I just stick an image to the wall and shuffle around a few things and it usually does the trick. You will have to forgive the quality of my photographs, I am still awaiting the arrival of my new camera lead so I am having to make do with the little prehistroric camera on my phone.

I have so many books, jars and little decorative items that I could do with having a desk the size of a dining room table to display everything, but with that not being an option I instead just alternate what I have on my desk every few weeks to ensure I'm getting good use out of everything. I did see some nice, white wall shelving in Ikea last week so I think I'm going to get some to put up above my desk to give me a little more space to put up my latest treasures.

I'm now on the hunt for some inspirational desk/office images, below are some of the beauties which I've came across just now, I'm sure I'll be adding to this collection of images throughout the night. But at the moment, these are my stand out favourites. Take a look...
