doodle ...

Hello all,

So today I came across some wonderfully playful illustrations and prints by the brilliant Wayne Pate. I had not came across his work before but I am thrilled that I stumbled across his blog today. I love the linear qualities of the illustrations and the graphic compositions and colour combinations used in his work. So much so that I think I may need to save up to purchase one of my favourites, "Rising of the Setting Sun".

Here are some of the beautiful works below, a collection of my favourites.
If you are looking for some inspiration and eye candy this Monday morning then head over to http://www.waynepate.com/

five favourites ...

Hello all,

So tonight I have come to a little decision, amongst trying to organise my folders and the ridiculous amount of images which I collect on a daily basis I thought I should include them in a weekly post called "five favourites".  Each week, hopefully every Tuesday I will post five of my favourite images which I've found throughout the week, these "five favourites" will be based on a theme, colour, trend or anything else which has caught my eye within the last seven days.

So to debut my "five favourites" feature, I've decided to run with the theme from yesterdays post which is print. I am totally obsessed at the moment, an obsession which is only increasing by my daily browsing on Etsy as I'm on the hunt for a pretty print for my bedroom.

Low in behold I have fallen for some lovely pieces, I have my five stand alone favourites below.

1. Mengsel Design
2. Yellow Lion
3. Hannah Lloyd
4. Flat Land Kitchen
5. Bold and Noble

All worthy of getting hung in any room! Delicious.

wonderful walls ...

Hello all,

Over the last few weeks I've been filling a sketchbook with pattern work in prep for an interview I have in June. I've always been a pattern enthusiast, my love for it first stemming from the wonders of William Morris. Pattern and colour have always been two areas of design that capture my interest and imagination and with the ever growing amount of beautiful work out there it's hard to go a day without being inspired by a delicate pattern or bold print in fashion or interiors.

Whilst gathering ideas and inspiration for my sketches I delved into the wonderful world of wallpaper. When thinking of wallpaper you can be forgiven of thinking of dated patterns or predictable colour ways, but infact wallpapers are as bold, stylish and contemporary as many of the prints in fashion.
Don't believe me? Check out some of my favourite examples below.

hang and hook ...

Hello all,

So today I have been trying to organise an up and coming photo shoot which means trying to source some lovely props to sit alongside my main products. Basically, it has given me a fantastic excuse to trawl through countless online boutiques, catalogues and design blogs in search of  lovely, decorative pieces.
And wouldn't you know it, I become distracted, off I went on a tangent, I can only blame this on the beautiful images I came across whilst doing my "research". I seem to have once again fallen in love with anything you can hang on your wall, though this time I'm not just talking fancy frames and pretty pictures.

It's refreshing to see how people are using their walls to showcase a plethora of objects, all perfectly hung in a cluster of style and personality. It's like having your own home gallery, exhibiting whatever you like alongside the trusty old photo frame. It seems the more eclectic the better. I love the variation in size and shape in many of the images I've found,  an ordinary large, square frame hung next to a long, metal arrow. The more obscure, the better the wall, and although it may seem a little hard to believe it does somehow visually work. Here are some of my favourite examples, going from the classic cluster of frames to the more playful placements of letters and objects.

Is it about time we all got creative and made our walls a bit more playful?

picture perfect...

Hello all,

I must say that I am more than tired (dare I say a little blurry eyed thanks to a tipple or two) this evening, after a long but lovely weekend away at a friends relatives wedding I am ready to curl up and look at some beautiful images. And who fits the bill perfectly? The amazingly talented Claire Cole.

I have been a fan of hers for a long time now, the botanical themes used within her work, along with the innovative use of embroidery is always something to behold. What I would give to have a framed piece of her work. Even the little treats on her website such as the gift cards and the brilliant mugs... embroidered porcelain. Genius.

Below is a selection of her beautiful work.

ENJOY!
