Happy Weekend ...

Hello there,

What a perfect start to the weekend, an uninterrupted, sunny March day. Not just sunny, warm in fact and although I wasn't able to spend the day basking in the glory of such a rarity it definitely helped put me in a brighter mood. I am ironically full of a winter cold, so this dose of sunshine was very much needed. It's because of this lovely sunshine that I started to get excited for the summer, warmer days and lighter evenings, a combination which seems to make everyone that little bit more happy.

I have already started my S/S mood boards, collecting any imagery which depicts the brightness, easy going and spontaneous mood that summer exudes. Here is a glimpse of the type of imagery which reminds me that summer is well on its way. Fresh colours, fun print combinations and an almost breezy "anything goes" attitude towards design.

fly by ...

 Hello everyone,

I can not believe how quickly the time seems to be passing by this year, almost half way through March and I still feel as though I've only just said goodbye to Christmas.

I have been somewhat distracted over the past weeks, life can get a little hectic and take unexpected turns which alter all plans, resolutions and good intentions (in terms of my daily blogging).

Now that things seems to have settled down I have the luxury of being able to once again get back to my blog and post the images which keep me inspired and motivated in the times where I need it most.

As spring is soon upon us... yes the weather may not be a great reference point but the clothes and interior trends do offer a very gentle and sugary sweet reminder.

So with spring and optimism on my mind I riffled through my archives, blogs and online magazines to discover these images below which have captured my imagination and filled my sketchbook pages. The colours found in the collection of images below have inspired me to get out my watercolours, my favourite and perhaps most idea effective past time.

 

Colour is such an amazing trigger point to any idea or project, and it is with these beautiful colour combinations that I feel compelled to get my creative juices flowing.

Happy Weekend...

Hello all,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I have spent the day organising and planning as I have a whole 11 days off work, so during this time I am going on a few little trips and planning on getting a little creative too. I will actually have the luxury of time, reading my design books which I got for Christmas, which as of yet I have only been able to flick through, so a full afternoon of reading and being inspired by page after page of design is a day firmly set in my diary.

An afternoon of reading and drinking coffee in one of these rooms would indeed be a lovely day.

Hello all,

So today I came across some wonderfully playful illustrations and prints by the brilliant Wayne Pate. I had not came across his work before but I am thrilled that I stumbled across his blog today. I love the linear qualities of the illustrations and the graphic compositions and colour combinations used in his work. So much so that I think I may need to save up to purchase one of my favourites, "Rising of the Setting Sun".

sweet pea pastels ...

Hello all,

Happy Weekend. I hope you are all enjoying a little Sunday afternoon rest.

Over the past seven days it seems everywhere I turn I am reminded that Spring is not so far away, in fashion magazines, store windows, interior trends and even in food styling blogs pastel shades have taken over. These sugary sweet hues create a whimsical and airy nod towards spring, light and bright it seems that anything to do with design is laced in these delicious colours. You may think of pastel shades and think of achingly girlie styling and design however I have pulled some of my favourite images from the last seven days which show pastel shades in a fresh, in some cases fantastically simple and modernised way.

Hello all,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend! It seems to have flown by, so before it's completely over I thought I'd  post a little happy weekend blog, focusing on the lovely, refreshing and in my opinion calming colour that is green. There is something about this colour which makes any interior adorned with green wall coverings or accessories look crisp, contemporary and effortlessly cool.
